Expertise Guarantee

Innumeracy is rampant in this field, and CORA is the only curriculum designed to provide immunity against this epidemic of ignorance. Completing this course will increase your competence and confidence levels, and equips you – as the purchaser or advisor – to challenge the fictitious "savings" that actuarial consulting firms get paid large sums to "show" on behalf of their clients.

About the Instructor

The CORAPro designation means you can claim (and we will back you) that you can do what only one actuary (and about 25 other people) have ever done, which is to prove that you can not only recognize fallacies/lies/mistakes when they see them (that's standard CORA), but also uncover them in the first place. The course will consist of readings from Aon, Mercer and others, along with their respective exposes. Then you will be given similar readings and asked to find the fallacies and critique them, in an essay/short answer format. These are graded personally (at least until we figure out how to get AI to do it) by our Validator-in-Chief, Al Lewis.

Curriculum

Whereas CORASci is about creating valid reports. CORA Pro is about identifying invalidity in reports. That is the more important skill for those who write RFPs, negotiate contracts, and receive outcomes reports.

I: Chapters 3 and 4 of Why Nobody Believes the Numbers

If you don't have a copy and don’t want to buy one, ask AL@validationinstitute.com.

In particular, read the Seven Rules of Plausibility

II: The Validation Institute series on outcomes analysis

  1. Regression to the Mean
  2. Participation Bias
  3. Trend Inflation
  4. Tying Savings to Outcomes
  5. Cross-Examining Vendors
  6. Peer Review Fallacies

III: Issue Spotters

Following those, write to us to obtain two quizzes.

The first is where you find the fallacies on a page that is teed up to the page(s) that have the fallacies on them. You need to spot those fallacies.

The second is an unexpurgated report where the issues aren't already teed up for you.

Passing those earns you the CORAPro Lifetime Certification and Expertise Guarantee.

Pricing

$2500 to take the course and, if you pass the quizzes, $2500 for the Lifetime Certification, Expertise Guarantee, and accompanying promotion.

There is no additional charge if you fail. You receive a report showing the issues you missed, and a different set of quizzes if you care to try again.
